ARUBA’S NATIONAL SOCIAL FUND STARTS COVID-19 RELIEF INITIATIVE ‘Happy to Give Back’
ORANJESTAD — As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to affect Aruba’s tourism industry, local economy and workers, CEDE Aruba has launched its ‘Happy to Give Back’ relief initiative.
An initiative where people can donate online for immediate support to the local food banks and the most vulnerable in the Aruban community, especially the elderly in complete isolation, children and thousands of people who have lost their jobs.
The Island is devastated, as Aruba’s only economic pillar, tourism & hospitality, has come to a complete halt. Aruba seems to be the most affected country in the world due to impact on tourism from COVID-19.
We project more than 25.000 lost jobs, close to a quarter of our total population, so we need all the help we can get.
The Happy to Give Back initiative has been able to fund over 300 warm meals per day, 7 days a week together with over 500 essentials packages per week since the donation campaign.
Aruba Happy Rentals Management has been cooking and volunteering weekly to help aid the most affected together with many other volunteers.
“It's been very inspiring to see volunteers of all ages in our community, come together to help coordinate, cook, and distribute amongst the most vulnerable on our island.” – Geraldine Mostert
We kindly ask you to please keep donating, every friend of Aruba who can afford it to make a contribution, both locally and internationally, so we can continue with the much-needed support for Aruba's most affected families amid this evolving national crisis.
